Over 50 years ago, the Willow Point Golf Course was laid out along the shores of Lake Martin. What started as a relocation project for the Alexander City Golf Course became the Willow Point Golf & Country Club. The move, which seemed risky at the time, became the impetus for creation of a lakeside residential development just over 40 years ago.
The neighborhood quickly grew to become the crown jewel of Lake Martin. With various phases being added over the years, the total number of residential properties grew to 250 by 2004 with the addition of the popular Glynmere neighborhood.
Over the years, many enhancements were made to the neighborhood. In 1996, the entry gate was built featuring 24-hour armed security. In 2002, the already successful golf course was redesigned into its popular, present-day layout. With the new layout came the expansion of the clubhouse, offering a new pro shop, cart barn and the popular Stone Grille dining facility. In 2008, the Club expanded even further with a new cabana, fitness center, pool and snack bar facility with lakeside beach. Without a doubt, Willow Point has grown into one of the most desirable communities in the South.
Newest Addition
Clearly, Willow Point is one of the most valuable locations on the lake, and in 2008, an important new addition was made to the Willow Point community with Willow Glynn. This new, waterfront neighborhood is adjacent to Willow Point and is served by Willow Point security and connected to the Country Club by roadways and cart paths. Most importantly, this neighborhood was carefully carved out of one of the most beautiful pieces of land on Lake Martin.
Willow Glynn is situated on the Pitchford Hollow Cove which was home to a collection of humble Russell Cabins nestled in mature hardwood forest. Careful land planning and architectural controls helped to create a beautiful neighborhood of lake homes and homesites which offer great opportunities for property ownership in the Willow Point Community.
We have made steady progress in creating a wonderful neighborhood of lake homes. To date, with the recent addition of two fabulous estate lots, we have created 36 waterfront homesites. Twenty-five have already been purchased, and some of the most attractive homes on the lake are located here. This spring, we released very attractive pricing on the remaining sites for those wanting to purchase now and begin planning for their future lake home.
