Why did the Good Lord make "bad things"?
We will take a fresh look at some old, ugly faces and find out some reasons why roaches and rats need our appreciation, too. Even the most unlikely of creatures holds a special place in Russell Forest. Discussion will center on the important work of the least respected woodland residents, and also how different our world would be if they were gone. Live animals – bring your camera. No charge – everyone is welcome!

Guided Nature Tours
Meet at WILLOW POINT Trailhead
Monday, September 1 - 8am
Saturday, September 6 - 8am
Saturday, September 13 - 8am and 5pm
We’ll be looking for unpleasant company on this 90-minute trek through Russell Forest Trails. Our search for spiders, slugs and snails will guide us to learn how even unattractive creatures are necessary to make the woods so wonderful. Impromptu discoveries always abound as we spend time in this outdoor classroom. Learn while you exercise! Appropriate for participants ages 5 - 105.

For all Guided Nature Tours: It is recommended that participants have a moderate fitness level and are able to stand or walk for at least two hours. Walking pace will be relaxed with frequent stops. Comfortable, seasonally-appropriate clothing and shoes are advised. Binoculars and cameras are welcome. There are no bathrooms on the Forest Trails.
