Beautiful day. Great race!

Seventh year the biggest yet

By Robert Gunn, Race Director

It’s hard to believe that the Russell Forest Run just completed its seventh run! Wow, where has time gone? This run has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Alexander City Schools Education Foundation, set a new record for registrations and has more than doubled in size since our first event in 2010!

We’d like to take a second to thank all of the runners—more than 480—who came from 11 different states to run through the beautiful Russell Forest, all of the volunteers who got up early Saturday morning to help us out and, of course, our many sponsors who help offset the cost of the run, allowing us to be able to give a nice donation to the ACSEF!

It’s so much fun for me, as race director, to hear the blast of the cannon as we start the run, and then meet everyone in The Stables for the Post Race Party.

I received an email late Saturday from one of our Anniston, Alabama runners who said...

“Just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed the run, the party, and the entire Russell Crossroads experience. Just finished off crab cakes that we purchased at Catherine's Market and even brought back cookies to share with our Sunday morning running buddies. Already talking about the 2017 run at the Crossroads and hope to bring an even larger crowd with us!”

We hope everyone who runs and visits here has the same type experience!

Can’t wait for 2017. We’ll see you and your friends on February 25!
