The Great Outdoors
In January, discover a sometimes sleepy Russell Forest in winter
Gray, cold winter days make many of us long to stay curled up in bed asleep. Well, any of the residents of Russell Forest follow in our pawprints in that respect (like this sleeping groundhog). This month, Marianne takes us on a trek through the winter forest where some are slumbering and others are surprisingly active.
Wildlife Presentations

Saturday, January 21, 9am-12:30pm
Join Russell Lands On Lake Martin Naturalist Marianne Hudson for an informative display featuring our native wildlife. Discussion will include interesting facts about our wild neighbors and feature touchable items left behind by forest residents. Which Russell residents could our Naturalist rouse for this winter display? Find out who’s not afraid of the chilly weather as you learn about the critters on the Naturalist’s table. You’ll get an up-close look at some of the features that enable wildlife to survive in wintry weather. You will be inspired to appreciate the wild dramas being lived out all around us. Program includes live animals and is appropriate for all ages. No charge – everyone is welcome!
