Jazz Fest, Sea-Doo Rumble
and Slalom Championship
slated for June

With the kids out of school and Memorial Day weekend having marked the official start of the summer season at Lake Martin, so starts a flurry of events and activities at Russell Lands On Lake Martin.

Listed here are just the major events for the month. There's plenty more going on — from Saturday morning yoga classes on the Crossroads Town Green and a Slow Food pancake breakfast June 4, to Friday evening wine tastings and whole lot more. Alex City Jazz Fest

The 21st annual Alexander City Jazz Fest brings two days of great music to Alex City and Lake Martin. Headlined Friday night by Wet Willie, and Saturday night by J.J. Grey and MOFRO, the event is sure to be packed with great music and a fun atmosphere.

Colonial Lions
Sea-Doo Rumble & Poker Run
Saturday, June 11
Registration 8am at Kowliga Marina

Calling all personal watercraft and boating enthusiasts! June 11 is your chance to join throngs of other water jockeys, have a blast on Lake Martin and benefit the Colonial Lions Club and its work in the community. Registration and your first poker run hand is $75. Each additional hand is $50. One additional card may be purchased at the final checkpoint for $20. You’ll be having fun and doing something good. And, if you have the most points in your hand, you’ll win $1,000! Winners will be announced at Kowaliga Beach at 3pm, or immediately after all participants have completed all checkpoints.

Sea-Doo demos will also be available from 9am to 2:30 that day at Kowaliga Beach, featuring Sea-Doo watercraft with iControl, the world’s most advanced watercraft technology – Intelligent Brake and Reverse (iBR), Intelligent Suspension (iS), S3 Hull and Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC).  Summer is here. Maybe now is the time to check out the new models, or take one home.

Lake Martin Slalom Championships
Slalom Clinic and Water Ski Tournament
Saturday, June 25
Kowaliga Marina

Sponsored by Russell Marine and run exclusively with Correct Craft.
Competition is open to beginners and experts alike. Come join the event as a competitor or spectator.

In the morning, there will be a Slalom Clinic taught by U.S. Senior World Team Member and Alabama State Record Holder, Bob Schouten, and State Champions and Nationally Ranked Competitors, Joseph Schouten and Payton Phillips.

Then, about 1pm, our handicapped slalom tournament will begin. With T-shirts, trophies, concessions and other prizes, everyone is a winner!
