Happy woman driving boat with family"Women on Lake Martin" free boating class April 9

Saturday, April 9, 9am-12pm  or 1-4pm
River North Marina

Ladies, have you ever wanted to learn to operate a boat on Lake Martin, or tell your husband the right way to do it? Now you have the chance! Russell Marine and the Alabama Marine Police are teaming up on Saturday, April 9, to once again present the Women on Lake Martin boating class. This free course will be held at River North Marina and features a combination of classroom time and hands-on instruction on the lake.

Presented by the Alabama Marine Police, classroom content will focus on safety, right-of-way and boating laws. Then attendees will move outside for the hands-on portion, including “pre-start” checks, safe on-water operation and docking. Hands-on instruction will be performed by the boating experts of Russell Marine. It’s certain to be a fun morning, or afternoon, of learning and confidence building. You don’t even need your own boat, but if you want to get comfortable with yours, it is welcome.

The course is free, but space is limited. Last year, the course filled up quickly. To register, please email Doug Hamrick of Russell Marine’s River North Marina at dhamrick@russelllands.com, or give him a call at 256.397.1500.

Russell Marine would like to thank the Alabama Marine Police for their commitment to boating safety and education on Lake Martin – and for helping introduce the fun of boating to our friends on the lake!
