Things are changing
for the better!
If you have a bad case of cabin fever, do we have good news for you! Spring has sprung at Lake Martin – sooner and better than expected! Winter ended on an upbeat note here at the lake with lake levels three feet higher than normal - thanks to a variance granted to Alabama Power by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
In addition to higher lake levels, spring-like temperatures came early, dogwoods bloomed in mid-March, everything is turning green and the golf course at Willow Point is beckoning. There is nothing quite like the changes that come to the lake area with the onset of spring. This year everything is in place for an early and fun lake season!
Russell enhancements to lake life
While we cannot match nature in its spring splendor, we continue to improve our neighborhoods. We will be making several announcements in the coming months, but this month we are excited to announce the revised and improved amenity package for Willow Glynn at Willow Point.
When first conceived, Willow Glynn promised miles of trails, a hilltop pavilion and park, community piers for water-access lots, a canoe-kayak facility, boat ramp, secured entry, small clubhouse and pool. Much of that, such as the trails, a secured entry and a huge park, is in place. Community piers are either in place or under construction.
The largest and most exciting change is the decision to relocate and expand the amenity area. The original plan was to have the pool/clubhouse facility on the south side of the Willow Glynn cove and place the canoe/kayak facility on the north side (near Willow Point Road). On considering the longer-term plan for Willow Glynn, and our owner comments, it made more sense to merge and magnify the amenity area.
The north side of the Willow Glynn cove provides a beautiful and relatively flat, piece of waterfront land (approximately 30 acres). This land allows us to combine the clubhouse, pool, canoe-kayak facility, boat ramp and community piers while adding the potential for tennis courts, sports fields and a trail head for access to the vast trails and lands of the Russell Forest.
Looking at the long term
In a time when many developers are either shutting down operations or scaling back amenities to save money, one might ask why Russell Lands On Lake Martin is planning on increasing its amenity package. The reasons are simple. We are committed to providing an unequaled lake community, and over the last year, even in a tough economy, numerous families either purchased or moved forward on construction of their lake homes.
This success in sales has carried over to this spring signaling to us that lake lovers are ready to get on with life at the lake. We want to be ready when they are, so our plans have changed for the better and our land planners and architects are hard at work to finalize the Willow Glynn amenities. Spring is here and so is the future. Come and see it here at Willow Glynn at Willow Point!
