Willow Glynn families return to
Lake Martin roots
Many people have selective or faulty memory. Things like car keys, items on grocery lists and a wife’s birthday are easily forgotten. It seems like the busier and older we are, the worse our short-term memory gets. Recently, however, we have noticed a strange phenomena when it comes to people’s long-term memories about Lake Martin.
There are trigger mechanisms where people talk about their lake memories. They can describe, down to minute details, what they did on Lake Martin when they were children or teenagers. They wax on about the time they learned how to ski or when they first took a mouthful of water while inner-tubing. It is as though they have literally stepped back in time to a simpler time, when every moment is engraved on their memory banks. It is a really cool thing to watch.
Willow Glynn Triggers Memories
The best way we have found to trigger those lake memories is to visit Willow Glynn at Willow Point. This neighborhood is located in Pitchford Hollow (many lake lovers remember learning to ski here) on the East side of Parker Creek. This section of the lake is easily accessed by folks from Montgomery, Birmingham and Auburn, so it is no wonder memories come flooding back.
The memories are also triggered by what they find here. Many people remember the hilly land, winding narrow roads with heavy forest where the trees limbs literally touch over the roads. They remember the beautiful water with great views, and they remember the quiet, graceful cabins that dotted the shoreline. They remember all of that because that is what they find in Willow Glynn.
In the 1990s and mid 2000s, the trend on the lake was bigger, better and bolder. Folks in Willow Glynn have returned to simpler, more rustic and infinitely more practical lake home styles. In fact, everyone has turned their focus back on the water and the beautiful natural surroundings of this beautiful piece of property.
Shifting Trends and Gratifying Results
Russell Lands has long known that Pitchford Hollow would be a great place to make an addition to Willow Point. Careful design and planning resulted in our introducing this sector just in time for the greatest financial decline of our times. But, because this land is so special and because it is so right -- especially when you remember what the lake is supposed to be about -- many families have recently selected Willow Glynn as their future lake site.
Last summer, eight families purchased in Willow Glynn, with one home already complete, there are four others well under way and three more about to start. Of the original 24 waterfront lots, all but seven are sold. There are precious few of the quiet Pitchford Hollow lots left available in Phase 1.
All of the new activity was gratifying to everyone here at Russell Lands, but we were not caught off guard. We are in the process of recording our plat for 10 new waterfront lots in Phase 2, and the sales process has already begun. These lots are accessed via a quiet loop street which provides greater privacy for a deep-water, lake home.
We encourage everyone to visit Willow Glynn soon. Get ready for memories so thick you will have to swat them away like fireflies in the nighttime summer air. But don’t wait too long, with the limited number of lots and the strong demand for a simpler time, these lots will be history before you know it!
