Plenty of fun activities at Russell Lands On Lake Martin in September
Although the heat of the summer appears to be waning, and the kids are back in school, a host of entertaining activities are offered in September at Russell Lands On Lake Martin. So, come have fun at the lake!
Yoga on the Green
Saturday, September 4 – 7am
The Town Green at Russell Crossroads
Once again, Whitney Clanton will be your instructor for Yoga on the Green. Whitney teaches a style that emphasizes specific alignment principles and a philosophy based on the belief that everyone is intrinsically good-natured to bring the body, mind and spirit into optimal balance and well-being. This is an opportunity to deepen your yoga practice, while enhancing your health, through this life-affirming methodology. You might even be surprised to see some men participating and enjoying its benefits. This will be the last class of the season. These free sessions will return in the spring.
Painting on the Promontory
Wednesday, September 8 - 6:30-8:30pm
SpringHouse at Russell Crossroads
Hints of autumn color decorate this month's palette
Local artist, Bonnie Luckie, will once again be instructing beginners to advanced artists how to paint. This month, Bonnie will be teaching how to paint a lake scene sprinkled with hints of autumn color.
The painting class in September will be “Painting from the Promontory.” That’s the upstairs loft at SpringHouse. Class will be on Wednesday, September 8. The cost is $30 and includes paints, brushes, two hours of instruction and a fun-filled evening with the other students. Food & wine can be ordered before, during and after the class from the Dinner Menu. Limited space is available and classes have been very popular, so make your reservations today by calling Michelle at 256.215.7080.

Bocce, Croquet and Cooking classes return
SpringHouse at Russell Crossroads
Now that the evening temperatures are a little more pleasant, it’s a great time to get outdoors and enjoy the company of good friends or meet new ones. A great way to do that, and enjoy a cocktail and appetizers, is to come try your hand at a game of bocce or croquet on the lawn at SpringHouse. Each evening the restaurant is open, the bocce and croquet gear will be set up on the front lawn for your enjoyment. No organized tournaments are scheduled at this time, but you are invited to play at your leisure. The staff will be happy to serve you a cool beverage, appetizers or even dinner on the patio. It’s a great blend of competition and laughter, so bring your friends and an appetite.
You can learn a lot more about the rules and histories of bocce and croquet on the SpringHouse website here.
And since they’ve been so popular, SpringHouse wanted you to know that cooking classes with Chef Rob will return in October, and it’s rumored the focus will be fresh pasta and sauce. Mmmmmm! More details will be coming soon.
