Whitney Clanton, InstructorFree yoga classes thriving at Crossroads
Every Saturday morning in August – 7-8am
The benefits of yoga are endless.  Anusara yoga is a style of hatha yoga that utilizes specific alignment principles and a philosophy based on the belief that everyone is intrinsically good-natured, to bring the body, mind and spirit into optimal balance and wellbeing. Influenced by her Anusara yoga training, Whitney Clanton offers students the opportunity to deepen their yoga practice while enhancing their health through Anusara’s life-affirming methodology.  Please, come join Whitney for a free yoga class on the Town Green across from Catherine’s Market every Saturday morning from 7:00 until 8:00am.  From beginner to advance, all will feel comfortable and welcomed in this open level class.

Two sisters who have participated in the class shared their thoughts.  Sisters Dorothy Benson and Gertrude Holmes are enthusiastic advocates of yoga.  Gertrude has battled with chronic high blood pressure since the age of 21, taking daily medication that sometimes reached 20 pills a day. Dorothy was diagnosed with hereditary high blood pressure at 49 and began taking daily medication then. Until recently, both have struggled to keep their blood pressure semi-controlled. During Gertrude’s most recent visit to the doctor, her blood pressure was “normal” for the first time in 40 years; Dorothy’s visit was similar. When the doctor asked the women what they were doing differently, both in a faithful and admiring tone replied, “YOGA”.

ROLL TIDE!Show your support for your squad on canvas
Wednesday, August 11- 6:30-8:30pm
Local artist, Bonnie Luckie, will once again be instructing beginners to advanced artists how to paint. Although it’s the middle of summer, we know there are many of you counting down the days until the Auburn and Alabama season kickoffs. This month, Bonnie will be teaching how to paint two paintings – one for you Auburn fans and one for those rooting for the Tide. Those of you with a house divided will just have to choose.

WAR EAGLE!The painting class in August will be “Painting from the Promontory.” That’s the upstairs loft. Class will be on Wednesday, August 11. The cost is $30 and includes paints, brushes, two hours of instruction and a fun-filled evening with the other students. Food & wine can be ordered before, during and after the class from the Dinner Menu. Limited space is available and classes have been very popular so make your reservations today by calling Michelle at 256.215.7080.
