Warm, sunny weather brings abundant activities to Russell Lands On Lake Martin in May
Ahhh, sunshine, warm weather, dogwoods and the color green again! As we eagerly return to "lake weather," things are jumping at Russell Lands On Lake Martin. May is the gateway to summer, and the list of fun activities is already filled with events.
The Stables Open House & Derby Day
Saturday, May 1
The Stables at Russell Crossroads
Russell Lands On Lake Martin will host The Stables Grand Opening and Derby Day Celebration Saturday, May 1. The event starts at 3pm and the “Run for the Roses” will be shown on the big screen at 5:15. There will be entertainment until 6pm provided by Cowboy Bill and Company, light refreshments, and fun for all.
Ladies looking very Derby Day in their pretty spring hats, and men looking dapper in their khakis, sport coats, bucks and polos will see the new 8,000 square foot equestrian center, The Stables, at its finest. Join us at Russell Crossroads. It will be an afternoon to enjoy!
Russell Marine In-Water Boat Show

This show is the largest inland in-water boat show in the southeast. Be among the first to tour and demo Russell Marine's brand new 2010 boat lines from Sea Ray, Godfrey Marine, Sea-Doo, Centurion and, introducing our newest line, Bayliner! Painting from the Hearth

SpringHouse at Russell Crossroads
Local artist, Bonnie Luckie, will once again be instructing beginners to advanced artists how to paint. Since spring is finally here, it's only appropriate to showcase the vibrant colors of this exciting time of year.
The painting classes are moving to Wednesdays, through August, so we may better accommodate the surge in dining activity during the summer.
The cost is $30 and includes paints, brushes, two hours of instruction and a fun-filled evening with the other students. Food & wine can be ordered before, during and after the class from the small-medium-large plates menu. Friends of Children's Harbor Tour of Homes

The Ridge on Lake Martin
Seize this rare opportunity to step inside some of the most beautiful homes in The Ridge, one of Lake Martin's flagship neighborhoods. Get a glimpse of some of the finest lakeside architecture and décor in the southeast. Proceeds for this event will benefit Children's Harbor and the families they serve.

SpringHouse at Crossroads
The warm weather is finally upon us, and that means it's time to fire up the grill. Next month, with Memorial Day drawing near, SpringHouse Chef Rob McDaniel will go over some basic rules of thumb to get your grill ready for the summer. Then the class will cover some of Chef Rob’s favorite grilling treats. After all, it is a cooking class. He will teach the basics, like cooking steak, fish and chicken, but also plans to touch on some other fun things, like vegetables and pizzas. The cost is $25 per person. Wakeboard & Surf Clinic
Saturday, May 22 - Session 1: 8:30-11am; Session 2: 12:30-3pm
Russell Marine Kowaliga Marina
Learn to wakeboard and wake surf from the pros. Wake boarder Matt Sims, Hyperlite Pro-Rider, will be present to demo and answer any questions regarding equipment and the sport. We will have several professional wakeboard coaches in attendance, including Chris Armstrong and Will Smith.
Come soak in the clinic and the beautiful sunshine at Russell Marine’s Kowaliga Marina. Lunch will be provided. Please bring your own equipment (life vest, wakeboard, gloves, helmet). If you don’t have equipment, no worries. We will have displays set up.

Children's Harbor Art on the Lake

Children's Harbor Chapel area
Visitors will have the opportunity to view and purchase amazing artwork directly from the artists. They will be able to talk to the artist and get a deeper appreciation for their work. The setting is the beautiful Children’s Chapel with the blue waters of Lake Martin as the backdrop. Musicians from around the state will be providing music throughout the day, and the entire family can spend the day and enjoy the concessions by Texas Roadhouse. While the adults shop for that perfect piece of art to compliment their home, the children can spend time creating a masterpiece of their own in the kids art corner. This is a winning opportunity for everyone. The artists get to exhibit and sell their work, visitors get to purchase fantastic artwork without traveling all over the state to view the work from more than 40 artists, and all of this goes to benefit Children’s Harbor’s mission.
