Russell Forest Run Feb. 27$40 registration fee extended for
Russell Forest Run

There is absolutely nothing like the fresh smell of southern pine first thing in the morning. Join us February 27th for the inaugural Russell Forest Run and run through the forest with us. The Russell Forest Run is a road race and runners will be running on a smooth sand, clay, and gravel road that was built for electric cars and bicycles. The course meanders through a portion of the Russell Forest over gently rolling hills with unmatched scenery.

The driving force behind the inaugural Russell Forest Run is to help provide educational tools for the kids in the Alexander City School System. In this time of proration, teacher cuts, and program cuts – Russell Forest Run and race sponsors have teamed with the Alexander City Education Foundation to host a challenging race, raise a few dollars for the kids, and let runners have a great race in one of the most beautiful areas in the Southeast – the Russell Forest.

The scenic route starts near the SpringHouse restaurant at Russell Crossroads, takes runners near Kob’s Knob, up to Heaven Hill, and back to the finish line, near the sugar cane patch, at Russell Crossroads. Following the start of the 10K, there will be a one-mile fun run at 9:00am near Catherine’s Market at Russell Crossroads. Runners from as far away as Utah are registering for this race. The 10K runners who register before February 26th will receive the inaugural Russell Athletic high performance long sleeve runner’s shirt.

The registration fee of $40.00 has been extended through February 26th, and increases to $50.00 the day of the race. Race information, registration information, and information about the Alexander City Schools Education Foundation can be found www.russellforestrun.com.
