The Great Outdoors
It's winter in the woods, but not all are hibernating. Oh, my!
As we seek shelter from the winter cold in our homes, our friends in the forest are carrying on just fine. And although the word "deer" is a common one around these parts in January, Marianne takes a different approach when it comes to our white-tailed neighbors.
January Wildlife Presentations
Saturday, January 16th, 8:00am - 12:30pm Naturalist Cabin at Russell Crossroads
Join Russell Lands On Lake Martin Naturalist Marianne Hudson for an informative display featuring our native wildlife. Discussion will include interesting facts about our wild neighbors and feature touchable items left behind by forest residents: notably a variety of antlers from the white-tailed deer. January is the month when our deer need their antlers the most – find out why! Get an up-close look at some of the features that enable wildlife to survive in wintry weather. You will be inspired to appreciate the wild dramas being lived out all around us. Program includes live animals and is appropriate for all ages. No charge – everyone is welcome!
If you have questions for Marianne, she can be contacted at 256.496.2710 or naturalist@russelllands.com.
