Painting a pumpkin at Fall Family FestivalFall Family Festival leaves scarecrows on display at Russell Crossroads

Russell Crossroads was the perfect setting for the Fall Family Festival on Halloween day. Youngsters, parents, grandparents and friends gathered in spite of the not-so-perfect weather and the overlap with the Auburn/Ole Miss football game.  The children’s costumes were a sight to be seen and all were awarded prizes for their participation.  Parents and grandparents spent time with the little ones, helping them paint pumpkins and dress scarecrows.  Take a look at the many photos. I’m sure you will find a scarecrow or two that remind you of someone you know.  And if you come to Russell Crossroads, the scarecrows are still on display on the Town Green for all to see!

Mack brought his miniature ponies for all the children to ride, and everyone enjoyed the wagon hayrides with Stanley and Linda.  Memories from the past were triggered with the blacksmith crafting iron pieces, while Cowboy, Bill & Company, the bluegrass band, played from the porch of the Adventure Center cabin.  The antique ice cream and gristmill machines worked steadily to demonstrate how things were done in the past grinding corn to meal and grits.  But, sampling the ice cream was the best treat!

Make sure you don’t miss the fun next year!
